LEYDEN — A 41-year-old man was taken to the hospital after a single-vehicle crash on North County Road around 8:45 p.m. Friday.

According to Leyden Police Chief Daniel Galvis, the man was conscious and seemed to have a leg injury after crashing his Dodge pickup truck into a tree.

While weather was a factor in the accident, Galvis said the man was likely speeding.

“I guess you could say too fast was a factor. He hit the slush, lost it and went into a tree,” Galvis said.

“He did split the tree. That tells me he was moving,” said Galvis, who added the man said he was going around 35 mph.

According to Galvis, the man was within 500 feet of his home.
