What is wrong with the post office?

Recently I have read that the United States Postal Service is considering raising the price of a first-class stamp again and maybe 5 cents this time. How many times is that in the last year? And where is our service?

I think before they raise prices again they should have a complete overhaul. I correspond with a number of people in different states and it is despicable as to how long it takes to get a letter.

I received a letter from Indiana yesterday and my friend said it took 14 days for my letter to go from here to there. For another person it was 21 days, and a gal in Minnesota sometimes never gets my letter at all. What is going on with our mail system and where does our mail go? And they still want to raise the price.

If I mail a letter in Bernardston to a person in Bernardston it takes two days. Ridiculous. It goes to Boston and then comes back and is sorted before it can be delivered. What is the reasoning behind this? I can’t see that it saves money. It only takes longer.

Things have only gotten worse since Postmaster General Louis DeJoy took over. He took away some of the stand-alone mailboxes in rural areas, making it more difficult for citizens to mail in their ballot in the presidential election, and closed some of the sorting facilities. What is going to happen this presidential election?

DeJoy got a $75,000 performance bonus in fiscal year 2021, plus about $56,000 in other perks, which includes membership in two airline clubs, retirement counseling and financial planning services . DeJoy earned this in addition to his $305,681 salary, the highest ever paid for the top job at USPS. The former postmaster general received a salary of $290,000.

I think it is time for a new postmaster general who can put things back the way they used to be and speed up the mail service.
