I writing in regards to the March 18 letter to the editor by Paul Gallo [“Gratitude for heroes who gave their lives”].

In Mr. Gallo’s letter he describes viewing the World War II Cemetery in Nettuno, Italy and of the thousands of American white crosses. Men and women who gave their lives for the freedoms and democracy we have today.

When the former commander in chief visited military cemeteries, his comments were that the fallen were “suckers and losers,” and asked “what was in it for them?”

These statements mean your brother, your dad, your grandfather, and cousins were all “suckers and losers.”

How can a veteran now vote for such a despicable person. One that has no respect for our lost fallen heroes.

My uncle graduated Greenfield High School in 1943. One year later at 19 years of age, just a kid, he gave his life when the Navy ship he was on was hit by an enemy torpedo. My uncle never enjoyed much of his life. He was an American hero, not a “sucker or loser.”

If you as an American veteran can vote for such an insensitive, thoughtless human being that is your choice. Just remember your hero who gave his life when you’re in the ballot box. Would he appreciate being called a loser. I think not!
