As a Deerfield resident I am writing to thank Police Chief John Paciorek, Public Works Superintendent Kevin Scarborough, and Select Board Member Tim Hilchey for their public presentations concerning Tuesday’s special election. Each person contributed vital information about the July emergency.

After the compelling photographic evidence of the magnitude of the damage, Tim Hilchey explained the technicalities of getting state and other outside funding to cover costs already incurred.

Chief Paciorek narrated public safety issues, illustrated by the photographs, that led to road closures. Kevin Scarborough addressed technical aspects of emergency road repairs and coordination necessary with various contractors called in with no advance notice. All three Select Board members, the police chief, and the public works superintendent answered questions raised by town residents present.

If you were not able to attend the Informational Session, you can watch the video online at www.youtube.com/watch?v=ad1272tRm6c.

I hope that town residents will watch the video and then make sure to attend the Jan. 26 special election. Please vote “yes” in favor of the override to support our community, our elected officials, town employees, and volunteers — all performing their duties for our safety.
