Kris Selanis broke his own Valley League shot-put record Friday afternoon to help Athol High School beat Greenfield High School (72-23) and Springfield School of Science & Technology (82-8) during PVIAC Indoor Track Meet No. 5 at Smith College in Northampton.

Selanis won the event with a throw of 54 feet, 10½ inches to beat his former best throw of 53-11 by nearly a foot. Pioneer Valley Regional School, which earned a 65-29 win over High School of Commerce, had four throwers in the top 10, as Adrian Wilson finished second at 39-4¾, Andrew Pratt was fourth at 35-0, Jacob Comiskey was fifth at 34-11½, and Alex Wahlstrom was seventh at 34-3.

Athol was well represented across the board. Mason Barrieau won the 600 meter run in 1:28.02, was second in the 55 meter hurdles in 8.68 seconds, and was fifth in the long jump at 19-4½, while James Laford took eighth in the 55 (7.15), ninth in the high jump (4-11) and eighth in the 300 (40.58). Dennis St. Jean was fourth in the 1,000 (3:00.95) and seventh in the mile (5:19.89), Chase Michaud was eighth in the 600 (1:33), and Gabe Roberts was sixth in the high jump (5-1), eighth in the long jump (18-10¾) and ninth in the 300 (40.63).

Scott McDonough led Pioneer as he took second in the long jump (21-1½) and sixth in the 55 (7.01). Jacob Walker was fourth in the high jump (5-3) for the Panthers, while Nate Mousseau was fifth and Jacob Kelton was eighth both at 5-1. Alex Wahlstrom finished ninth in the 1,000 (3:14.71), and Brian Killay was 10th in the 55 hurdles (10.45).

Greenfield earned a split with a 70-14 win over Sci-Tech. Tyssen LaBombard was 10th in both the 1,000 (3:15.066) and the mile (5:27.51) to pace the Green Wave. Theo Popusoi took eighth in the 55 hurdles (10.21), and Dylan Badillo was ninth in the 2-mile (12:01.66).In the girls’ early session, Amy O’Sullivan won the 2-mile and had three top-10 finishes to lead Greenfield to wins over Athol (54-41) and Sci-Tech (69-20).

O’Sullivan won the 2-mile in 11:55.48 and also finished fifth in the 600 (1:51.51) and eighth in the mile (6:15.75). Teammate Jamie Day was fifth in the 1,000 (3:30.77), sixth in the 2-mile (13:01.02) and ninth in the mile (6:17.55). Greenfield also got. Dina Samake came in seventh in the shot put (23-11¾), while Allison Wiles (4-5) and Grace McLain (4-3) were eighth and ninth respectively in the high jump.

Athol earned a split with a 59-15 win over Sci-Tech. Shelby Mailloux took sixth in the 1,000 (3:32.16), while Christa Jillson was seventh in the 600 (1:54.57). Pioneer also picked up a 41-29 win over High School of Commerce. Avery Kelton paced the Panthers by placing seventh in the high jump at 4-5.

In the evening session, Meghan Davis won the 1,000, mile and the 2-mile to pace Mohawk Trail Regional High School to a 53-41 win over Ludlow High School and a 60-35 loss to Southwick-Tolland Regional School.

Davis won the 1,000 (3:16.32), mile (5:28.53) and 2-mile (11:32.03). Gabby Shean was third in the shot put at 29-2, while Erica Szewczyk was fourth in the 2-mile at 13:38.95. Jaxon Palmer took seventh in the 300 (48.51), Lily Wickland-Shearer was eighth in the 55 hurdles (10.42), and Caitlin Upton was 10th in the 1,000 (3:47.71).

Anna Wetherbee won the long jump (16-¾) and was second in the 600 (1:50.40) to lead Mahar Regional School to a 53-41 win over Ludlow, and a 66-29 loss to South Hadley High School. Kamryn Reilly had four top 10 finishes as she took second in the long jump (15-10 1/2) , fourth in the high jump (4-7), fifth in the 55 (7.93), sixth in the 300 (48.31). Emma Savoy was fifth in the 1,000 (3:39.30), Jordyn Berry was sixth in the high jump (4-5), and Marie Nottleson was 10th in the 55 hurdles (10.48).

In the boys’ evening session, Aaron Hendry won the 300 (38.13), finished second in the 55 hurdles (8.66), placed fourth in the long jump (17-7¼) and took ninth in the 55 (7.16).as Mahar defeated Ludlow (78-15) and South Hadley (63-32).

Ash Shaw and Hugo Frost each had big days for the Senators. Shaw won the high jump (6-1), was third in the 600 (1:29.99). Frost was second in the long jump (19-8), fourth in the 55 hurdles (8.81), sixth in the 600 (1:34.53) and seventh in the high jump (5-3). Nick Sharp won the shot put (47-11¼), and Sebastian Shaw was fourth in the 1,000 (2:54.33) and 10th in the mile (5:20.37).

Seth Hoynoski was third in the 300 (39.41) to pace Mohawk to wins over Ludlow (63-19) and Southwick (53-41). Cullen Brown was eighth in the 55 hurdles (9.74), and Luke Viens finished ninth in the 600 (1:35.89).
