GREENFIELD — After 17 years of renting, Greenfield Games finally has a space it can call its own.

The business recently purchased a new storefront several doors down from its previous location on Main Street, next to Taylor’s Tavern. The space, which had been empty for several years, was previously home to f.y.e.

“We finally got the impetus to find a new spot, partially because the landlord change over there where we were — a new person bought the building — and partially because we wanted something a little more stable, knowing what we had to work with rather than being a tenant,” owner Seth Lustig said.

With the move, Greenfield Games gained some extra space, expanding from 2,000 square feet to 2,600 square feet, and created a dedicated gaming area in the back of the store. Lustig said he’s also expanded the family section, which includes classic games like Clue and Monopoly, as well as the strategy board game section, and plans to stay open an hour later on Friday and Saturday nights.

Since moving, Lustig said he’s seen no reduction in the number of customers walking through the door. “There seems to be a lot of attention, a lot of people noticing the window, so that’s great,” he said.

Lustig added the store was lucky to find a new space so close to its old location.

“As much as we might be a destination, we really need people finding us every day easily,” he said.

The store, which used to be at 228 Main St., is now located at 238 Main St.
