DEERFIELD — Much like someone stumbling upon a vintage item they must have for their home, the owners of Greenfield Antiques and Collectibles just so happened to walk into their new, larger location on Routes 5 and 10.

After starting out as partners at Whitney Hill Antiques, Cindy Meehan and Genna Tash opened Greenfield Antiques and Collectibles in Greenfield in August 2021. The duo said they loved their Federal Street store, but having sufficient room for their ever-growing collection was always a problem and they saw an opportunity to expand when Wool-ology shifted to an online business in December.

“It’s the serendipity of the whole thing. We were in the right place at the right time,” Meehan said, with Tash emphasizing their space woes. “It was always, ‘If we just had more room.’”

Now, Meehan and Tash, who reopened the antique shop in Deerfield in January, are bringing in new vendors and welcoming more customers into their storefront at 242A Greenfield Road (Routes 5 and 10). The business is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., though the hours are expected to be extended in the spring.

With a larger space in Deerfield, they said there are several new vendors bringing in a greater variety of items, in a wider variety of styles, so there’s something for everyone. Tash described it as an “eclectic” collection of vintage and antique items, which Meehan said makes for a far more “exciting shop” for both the owners and customers alike.

A quick glance around the shop turns up vinyl LPs, a small collection of jackets, numerous collectible items and a sign pointing customers downstairs, where they can look at antique furniture, among many other items in various styles and aesthetics. Between Tash and Meehan’s collecting and their 10 vendors, the store brings in new items nearly every day.

“We try and have quality items,” Tash said. “If I wouldn’t have it in my home, I’m not going to sell it here.”

The move, according to Tash, has been successful thus far, primarily because of “location, location, location.” Meehan said they’ve been seeing “lots of new faces.”

“We’re really, really happy to be here. … Here we are, still having fun and meeting great people, ” Meehan said, which Tash agreed is the best part of her day. “I learn something from everyone. … I think we’ll be here for a while.”
