The Greenfield Community College Chorus says it’s time to think spring.

Springtime is the theme tying together a collection of songs the chorus will perform during its “Think Spring!” concert, which will be held Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of Saints James and Andrew in Greenfield.

The free event is part of the chorus’ spring semester concert series, drawing songs from well-known choral literature as well as less familiar works in several languages, according to a GCC press release.

The concert will include significant sacred and secular choral pieces from the Renaissance to the 21st century that celebrate spring and various spring holidays. Examples include “Come Follow” by John Hilton and “Ce mois de Mai” by Clément Janequin.

The chorus, which is made up of students, faculty, alumni and community members, is under the direction of Margery Heins, with Accompanist Marilyn Berthelette playing both piano and organ.

Several chorus concerts are held each semester. Upcoming performances include Thursday, April 19, at 7 p.m., when the chorus will sing at the opening of Arts Night.
