Fourth Annual Robert P. Collén Poetry Competition in honor of the late “Millers River Poet” for his life-long devotion to Orange, its libraries and the writing of poetry. Entrants may submit up to three poems about “home,” as defined by each poet. Only unpublished poems will be accepted. Must be submitted on white, 8.5-by-11-inch paper. Typed in a plain typeface, such as Times New Roman. All submissions must be postmarked no later than Saturday, Oct. 14. Ten finalists will be chosen to compete for prize money. On Monday, Oct. 30, Wheeler Memorial Library will host a reading of the chosen poems. It will award prizes of $100, $50 and $25 to the top three winners. All submissions should be sent to: Robert P. The Bernardston Kiwanis is seeking artists, craftspeople and specialty food vendors for its two-day Scarecrow in the Park event on Oct. 21 and 22. Organizers are seeking artists in a wide variety of mediums. The booth fee for the two-day weekend is $45 for a 10-foot-by-10-foot booth and $70 for a 10-foot-by-20-foot booth. It is expected that artists will commit to the entire weekend, however, a limited number of single-day applications will be accepted at the full weekend price. Actors, singers and dancers sought by UMass. Immersive take on “Dream Play.” All performers are encouraged to audition Sunday and Monday for Strindberg’s classic.
