Kent elected as president of Franklin County Bar Association

GREENFIELD — Lisa G. Kent has been elected president of the Franklin County Bar Association for the 2017-2018 year. A partner in the Greenfield firm of Esser Kent P.C, Kent is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association Family Law Section Counsel and an attorney with the ACLU’s Immigrant Protection Project.

She focuses her practice on divorce, custody, guardianship and elder law matters, and is a divorce mediator and collaborative attorney.

Sullivan joins Esser Kent firm

GREENFIELD – Attorney Hilary A. Sullivan has joined the Greenfield firm of Esser Kent, P.C. as associate attorney. She earned her JD from Western New England University’s School of Law in 2015 and her BA in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2011. Sullivan clerked for the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court and is a native of West Springfield. She will focus her practice on divorce, custody, elder law matters, estate planning, and landlord-tenant disputes. She is licensed to practice in both Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Freedom Credit employee recognitionincludes those in Greenfield, Turners

HOLYOKE — A number of Freedom Credit Union employees from the Greenfield and Turners Falls branches were among those recognized for their years of service at the annual holiday dinner.

They included: Dianne Michaud, an assistant branch officer in Turners Falls, recognized for 20 years; Ashley Gamache, assistant branch officer in Greenfield, five years; and Robin White, head teller in Turners Falls, five years.

Valley Educational Associationannounces staff promotion

HATFIELD — Jennifer Goselin has been promoted to clinical services supervisor at Valley Educational Associates Inc.

Goselin has worked in three locations in western Massachusetts for two-plus years.

Formerly, Goselin served on the agency’s psychological services team. In her new role, she will oversee the agency’s clinicians and day service participants. She will implement evaluation and assessment improvements for the program participants.

Goselin holds a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Walden University. She is a director for Arena Civic Theatre in Greenfield and a member of the Northfield Cultural Council and 100 Who Care Franklin County.

Fentin named to Super Lawyers List

SPRINGFIELD — Attorney Gary S. Fentin of Conway, a shareholder in Shatz, Schwartz and Fentin in Springfield was among those selected to the 2017 Massachusetts Super Lawyers List.

The Super Lawyers rating organization selects attorneys using a selection process that includes peer nominations, and evaluations are combined with independent research. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement, according to the organization.

Big Y, Hershey donate to food bank

The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts was one of five food banks in the region to get a $2,000 donation from Big Y and Hershey.

This donation is part of Big Y’s eighth annual Care To Share Sack Hunger campaign, in which Big Y sells non-perishable bags of food which are then donated to area needy.
