Bulletin Board: Lily Day saves the day for Pipione’s in 7-5 win

Owen LaValley scored the game-winning run off an RBI single by Lily Day in the seventh inning to help Pipione’s Sport Shop to a 7-5 win over Turners Falls Athletic Club in a Newt Guilbault Community League baseball game Monday night in Turners Falls.

Chris Miner homered and singled in the win and scored the game-tying run in the sixth inning to force extras. Matt Crossman hit an RBI single, Jake Jurek singled and doubled. and Derek Wissmann had a hit. Crossman, Jurek and Wissmann combined for 14 strikeouts in the victory.

Ryan Demers singled and plated two runs for TFAC, and Jack Doyle singled and doubled.

• Elsewhere, Gavin Rubio’s home run and two RBI propelled the Montague Elks Lodge to another victory, this time a 6-3 decision over Greenfield Savings Bank on Monday night.

Hugh Cyhowski had two hits and drove in a pair, while Joaquin Rubio doubled and Eli Guerin contributed two hits.

For GSB, Ryan Grace smacked two hits, including a double, while Jeremiah Shepherd also had two hits.

GML

Tad Loud went 6-for-6 on Monday evening to help Bobby C’s DJ Service to a 22-10 win over Cohn & Co. in a Greenfield Minor League AA Division baseball game at Lunt Field.

Gavin Arsenault went 5-for-6 with triple in the win. Bryce Drowski had three hits, and Brandon Janick had two hits.

Nick Prasol had three hits for Cohn & Co. Nate Johnston and Maddex Hubert had four hits apiece, and Camden Taponce singled.

• In AA action from Saturday afternoon, Jackson Glazier’s 4-for-4 day with a home run and six RBI propelled Bobby C’s DJ Service to a 13-2 win over Lundgren Honda.

Cody Yetter was 3-for-3 in the win, while Dylan Breiwick had two hits, including a double, and Austin Drowski added a pair of hits.

Nico Siano, Rowan Muzzy, Wayde Bardwell and Reid Hager all finished with two hits for Lundgren.

Cal Ripken Majors

Gabe Solodky singled, doubled and tripled, and Andrew Garrapolo had three singles for Polish American Citizens Club during a 13-13 draw with Pekarski’s Sausage in a Frontier Cal Ripken Major Division game at Herlihy Field in Whately.

Paul de Borg, Sam Whitney and Kyle Begos each pitched well for PACC.

Mason Thornton led Pekarski’s with four singles, Porter Hall doubled and singled twice, and Sean Fabry and Tyler Cusson each pitched well.

Mohawk Cal Ripken

Tanner Jenks struck out six on the mound and added three hits and two RBI at the dish in Buckland/Shelburne’s 16-2 win over Chesterfield in Mohawk Cal Ripken Minor League youth baseball action Monday night.

Jazzy Hayes doubled, drove in two runs and scored four times for Buckland/Shelburne, while Aiden Norwood had a hit and two RBI.

Chesterfield’s T.J. Lamere singled and doubled. Tobin Gougeon (hit, RBI) also contributed, and Cameron Hunsucker added solid relief pitching.

• Elsewhere, Brody Eastman went 2-for-2 in Colrain’s 15-10 win over Rowe in Minors play on Monday. Jill Deady also had two hits on the night.

Youth softball

GGSL

Emma Rose doubled and drove in two runs on Monday night to lead Crocker Communications to a 15-14 win over Camelot Carpet Cleaners in a Greenfield Girls’ Softball League Ponytail Division game Monday night at Murphy Park in Greenfield.

Olivia Dow hit an RBI double, and Lilia Kachelmeyer had two hits and two RBIs. Taylor Menard picked up her first hit of the season with an RBI single, and Kelly Baird and Mackenzie Paulin combined to strike out eight in the circle.

Gen Jackson led Camelot at the plate going 3-for-5 with an RBI, and Olivia Stafford went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Nene Santiago went 2-for-3, and Victoria Vassar had a hit. Stafford and Santiago combined to strike out four in the loss.

• Meanwhile, Caroline Crocker, Talia Caloon and Nora Drowski each had two hits to lead Conte Office Interiors to a 15-3 win over Deskavich Plumbing.

Carly Blanchard drove in a run in the loss, and Maya Morey played well defensively. Lillian Ross struck out five and played well defensively.

• In Lil’ Nipper Division action, Sandra Johnson had a walk-off hit to help Lundgren Honda beat Purple Panthers, 6-5.

Ella Tidland went 3-for-3 with a double in the win, and Mackenzie Clark finished 3-for-3.

Marin Taj Linnel went 4-for-4 in the loss, Chloe Bigelow went 3-for-4, and Ameliyan Galbraith had four great defensive plays.

Softball

Montague co-rec

Angelica Perfido drilled three triples and drove in three runs to power Fairview Landscape to a 17-11 win over Riff’s North Restaurant & Bar in a Montague Co-Rec softball game Monday night at Unity Park in Turners Falls.

Kendall Schneider smacked a pair of homers in the win, while Tim Anderson hit a solo homer to go with four base hits and two RBI.

• Meanwhile, Mark Koslowski and Jordan Zumeckis each had five hits including a home run and Turners Falls Pizza House belted Travel Kuz, 21-13.

Molly Wickline went 4-for-5 in the win, and Holly Stumpo went 3-for-5.

Alan Mailloux went 3-for-4 with two home runs in the loss, John Ollari and Chris Lanoue both went 2-for-2 with a home run, and Hillary Terapane finished 2-for-3.

Golf

Mark K. Memorial

The quartet of Frank Prondecki, Bob Walker, George Platek and Doug Field won a match of cards to take first-place with a 67 at the Mark K. Memorial Monday Night League played at Oak Ridge Golf Club.

Also posting a 67 was Jon Snow, Dick West, John Austin, Rod Roberge and Linda Morey.

Monday Night Ladies

Susan Plante shot a 39 to win low gross in the A Division during the Monday Night Ladies League at the Country Club of Greenfield.

Sherry Chaffee won low net with a 36.

Ellen Bitzer captured low gross in the B Division with a 44, and Lisa Sullivan won low net with a 36. Carla Bernier won low gross in the C Division with a 48, and Angie Bergquist won low net with a 38.

Preps

Deerfield Academy

It was a successful trip to Connecticut for the Deerfield Academy boys’ tennis team on Monday. The Big Green swept host Suffield Academy, 6-0.

Running

Firebird 5K sign-ups

The Firebird 5K Race Against Addiction will take place on June 3 at 8 a.m. at Highland Pond in Greenfield.

The race is a 5K footrace fundraiser to develop sober housing options in Greenfield through SAGE Housing.
