Bulletin Board: Sargent finishes with top point quota in Knights of Columbus League

The opening week of the Knights of Columbus Golf League at Thomas Memorial was contested on Wednesday, with Ed Sargent finishing with the top point quota of plus-7. 

Chet Czernich and Bob Bourbeau took second with point quotas of plus-5. Ken Mitzkovitz won closest to the pin on No. 7 (four feet, six inches) while Darren Lenois won on No. 9 (9-4). Bourbeau, Rod Brunelle and Ron Lenois won skins. 

■ The Thomas Memorial Women’s League also got underway on Wednesday, with Sally Malloy and Karren Sacco tying for the low gross of 44. 

Donna McKemmie shot the low net of 32 while Sue Mailloux won closest to the pin on No. 7 (3-0). 

Youth baseball

Newt Guilbault

Tyler Newton knocked a pair of hits and brought in four runs, Julian Bowden-Smith had three hits and an RBI to lead Booska’s Flooring to a 14-1 win over St. Stan’s in a Newt Guilbault contest on Wednesday. Carter Flagg had the lone RBI for Stan’s.

Deerfield Minors

On Tuesday, Hatfield defeated Deerfield, 12-3, with Ryan Washburn and Jack Carney each pitching two strong innings for Deerfield before Hunter Sherburne closed it out.

Raine Wonsey had a double and a single, Stella Call had a hit and Lexi Hawkins struck out eight as Triton Automotive defeated Greenfield Garden Cinemas, 12-7, in a GGSL Ponytail contest on Wednesday. 

Savannah Brown and Rileyanne Tine both had a hit while Kaelynn Chabot struck out three in the loss. 

■ Elsewhere, Gilmore & Farrell and Precision Driving played to a 7-7 tie in Junior Division play on Wednesday.

For G & F, Tianna Valdez, Kendall Bernard and Lyla Burek all went 4-for-4, while Charley Deane and Layla Bailey both had three hits.

Precision Driving’s Penelope Gioules smacked four hits while Anabelle Maricano and Ava Martin each had three hits.

Deerfield Academy results

The Deerfield Academy boys tennis team defeated NMH, 6-1, on Wednesday. The DA boys lacrosse team picked up a 14-9 win over Loomis while the Big Green girls lacrosse team defeated Williston, 12-11. 

In girls tennis DA lost to Phillips Andover, 5-0, and in baseball the Big Green fell to Choate, 14-4. DA fell to Choate, 8-6, in girls water polo and in ultimate, DA lost to Frontier, 10-5.

Shelburne Falls results

Jill Jablonski had the women’s high single (106), Cherie Semanie had the women’s high triple (268), Jon Tibbetts rolled the men’s high single (111) and Chris Rice had the men's high triple (294) in the Wednesday Mixed League at the Shelburne Falls Bowling Alley last week. 

In the Thursday Mixed Social Rachel Dodge had the women’s high single (105) and triple (293) while Ray Dodge had the men’s high single (124) and triple (320).
