Bulletin Board: Woods shoots Pioneer past Burgy on hardcourt

Josh Wood scored 20 points to lead Pioneer to a 50-27 win Tuesday over Williamsburg in a grades 5 and 6 Suburban League boys’ basketball game at Pioneer Valley Regional School in Northfield.

Gavin Gammell added 11 points and Brayden Thayer chipped in with 8. Jake Brook had 5 points, 11 rebounds and 6 steals in a nice all-around effort.

Vincent Zanoni led Williamsburg with 15 points.

• On Saturday, Gammell’s 12 points led Pioneer past Turners, 45-26, in Turners Falls.

Kurt Redeker finished with 11 points. Wood added 8 points to go with 12 rebounds.

Hugh Cyhowski led Turners with 9 points. Josiah Little chipped in 6.

• In Saturday grades 7 and 8 action, Jayden Fox poured in 19 points to lead Pioneer past Turners Falls, 63-24, at Turners Falls High School.

Sam Glazier finished with 12 points in the win. Jared Hubbard had a great game defensively, while Ryan Potter did a nice job rebounding.

Noah Ausikaitis led Turners with 8 points. Jacob Lavin added 6 points.

Pioneer ‘Rock The House’

The Pioneer Valley Regional School Booster Club is hosting a ‘Rock The House’ night Friday when the boys’ basketball team hosts rival Hopkins Academy in a Hampshire League South showdown in Northfield.

The event kicks off at 5 p.m. with the JV game, and the evening will feature activities, as well as raffles and prizes between the JV and varsity games. A $100 gift certificate to Dick’s Sporting Goods will be raffled off, while a half court shot contest is also a featured event. A PVRS staff member will also be duct taped to the wall of the gymnasium along with several other giveaways.
