Bulletin Board: Crochier paces Smitty’s past Paddy’s, 25-10

Mike Crochier was a double short of the cycle, finishing 4-for-4 with a home run and a triple as Smitty’s Pub blasted Paddy’s Pub, 25-10, in a Greenfield Co-Rec softball game Friday night at Green River Park.

Joseph Gamache was a perfect 4-for-4 while legging out a pair of triples for Smitty’s, while Kristin Ouelette added three hits in the win.

Mike Cole belted a home run for Paddy’s, while received three hits (two doubles) from Joe Guidaboni and two hits from Ashley Dufresne.

Youth baseball

Mickey Mantle

Sam Bobala, Simeon Maniatty and Jacob Christi all went 2-for-3 with an RBI as Mohawk’s Hilltown Hardwood Flooring captured a 7-4 win over Westfield in a Pioneer Valley Youth Baseball League Mickey Mantle game played Thursday night in Westfield.

Tucker Mills earned the win, striking out one in three innings of work before Christi picked up the save with three innings of hitless relief. The game was called due to darkness after six innings.

Mohawk will play a doubleheader today in Buckland with the first game starting at 2 p.m.

FC Babe Ruth

Kyle Devlin tossed four strong innings and Hubie’s Tavern capped an 11-1 regular season with a 9-2 win over Turners Falls Athletic Club in the regular-season finale for both teams in Franklin County Babe Ruth League action on Thursday.

Austin Wrisley went 3-for-4 to pace the Hubie’s offense, which received two hits from Dillon Polan and one each from Brody Baird, Cam Baird, James Robison, Josh Semaski and Chad Adams.

Jake Burnett and Joe Boyden both went 2-for-3 for TFAC, while Nick Crocker, Trevor Lapinski, Joe Monkiewicz and TJ Thibeault all singled.

The postseason for the Babe Ruth League begins today, when top-seeded Hubie’s meets No. 4 St. Kazimierz Society at 11 a.m. while second-seeded TFAC tangles with No. 3 Akey Insurnace at 3 p.m. Both games will be played at Abercrombie Field.

Tennis

Greenfield Cup

Registrations are being accepted for the Greenfield Tennis Cup, which will take place Monday through June 22 at the Beacon Field Tennis Courts in Greenfield.

The singles tournament is best-of-three sets and single elimination. There are separate male and female divisions and tournament is open to players high school through adult.

Cost is $10 plus a can of unopened tennis balls. The tournament is sponsored by Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters and there are prizes for first and second place in each division. Deadline to register is June 18 at 6 p.m.

Turners coaches sought

Turners Falls High School and Great Falls Middle School is looking for coaches for the fall sports season.

The schools need coaches for the following teams; assistant football, middle school football, middle school field hockey and middle school soccer.

Basketball

Keene State camp

Keene State College is holding its Men’s Basketball Prospect Camp on July 30 at Spaulding Gymnasium on the campus of Keene State.

The camp runs from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and is open to boys entering grades 9 through 12 and costs $65, which includes a t-shirt.
