Bulletin Board: Campbell K’s 10 as Rotary tops Smitty’s, 14-2

Jackson Campbell struck out 10 batters over four innings and added a pair of hits and three runs scored as Rotary Club continued its hot start to the season with a 14-2 win over Smitty’s Pub in a Greenfield Minor League baseball AAA game Friday night.

Will Glazier struck out two on the mound in the final inning for Rotary Club, while the offense was powered by Jacob Brook (2-for-2, RBI), Jackson Glazier (single, RBI), Daniel Pena-Chadee (single, 2 RBI) and Kendra Campbell (single, three runs).

Smitty’s pitcher Jackson Petrin struck out five in three innings of work. Teammates Silas Muzzy (two RBI), Devin Dubie (run), Elias Urquhart (run) and Cody Vassar all had hits.

• Elsewhere, Heath Gomez was the winning pitcher while also smacking two hits in Nap’s Auto Sales & Service’s 11-6 win over Freedom Credit Union.

Jayden Hunter came on in relief for Nap’s, while also contributing a hit, and Jonathan Ainsworth was 1-for-2 with a double.

Freedom’s Cam Burnett had two hits on the night. Tyler Yetter was 1-for-2 with a double, and Aiden Shea also had a hit.

• In other action, Brayden Thayer, Ben Werner and Luca Siano combined to pick up the win on the mound as Aubuchon Hardware edged Tognarelli Heating & Cooling, 12-10.

Thayer and Werner had two hits apiece, while Ethan Mauthe added a double.

For Tognarelli, Devin Sloan, Ethan Quinn, Den Dodge, Braeden Tsipenyuk and Gabe Tomasi all had two hits.

Newt Guilbault

Jake Jurek and Derek Wissmann combined to strike out 12 batters on the mound and Pipione’s Sport Shop knocked off St. Kazimierz Society, 15-3, in a Newt Guilbault Community League baseball game Friday night.

Wissmann was also a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and four RBI at the dish. Teammates Matt Crossman and Chris Miner added triples, while Logan Addison was 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI.

Zavyey Nieves doubled for St. Kaz, while Kainen Stevens finished 3-for-3. Zan Sykes also played well for his team.

Mohawk Cal Ripken

Nate Wiles went 2-for-3 with a home run, as Colrain defeated Buckland/Shelburne, 10-1, in a Mohawk Cal Ripken Majors Division game Friday night.

Deven Buchanan was 3-for-3 for Colrain, and Sam Parent was 2-for-2.

Bronson Schoelzel had a pair of doubles for Buckland/Shelburne, while Rosco Palmer hit a solo home run in the fifth for his team’s run.

Youth softball

GGSL

Lily Spera could not be contained on Friday night. Her 4-for-4 outburst at the plate was complemented by five RBI, as she helped the Diamond Dusters to a 14-13 victory over Pipione’s Sport Shop in a Greenfield Girls Softball League Ponytail Division game at Murphy Park.

Taylor Greene registered two hits and drove in two runs for the Dusters, while Madison Liimatainen finished with two hits, and Kiera Stevens had a hit and an RBI.

Kylee Gamache’s two hits powered Pipione’s, which also received offensive contributions from Jordan Tully (hit, 2 RBI), Alysia Knapp (hit, RBI) and Margarette Howland (hit, RBI).

• In other dramatic GGSL action, Gilmore & Farrell Insurance held off a late charge from the Purple Panthers for a 10-9 win in a Little Nipper contest.

Layla Hammond, Tayler Bergeron and Lauren Helie all went 3-for-3 for Gilmore & Farrell.

Addison Talbot went 6-for-6 for the Panthers, while Niomi Wilson-Hill had five hits, and Ivy Lopez drove in a pair of runs.

• In GGSL action Thursday night, Lilly Ross struck out eight batters pitching Descavich Plumbing to a 5-2 win over Camelot Carpet.

Lauren Ross had a triple in the win for Descavich, while Maya Morey and Carly Blanchard each added a hit.

Camelot’s Lauren Wade had a double and two singles, while Olivia Stafford had two hits and struck out 12 in the pitching circle.

Tri-County League

The high-powered pitching tandem of Hailey Haughey and Julia Kovalsick continued their winning ways on Friday night. The pair combined for 15 strikeouts and their Northfield-Erving Tigers picked up another big victory thanks to a 16-4 decision over Hinsdale in a Tri-County League youth softball game.

Kovalsick also paced Northfield-Erving with three hits, including a double, to go with three RBI, while Haughey tripled and drove in three runs.

Sofia Walker drilled a home run and added three RBI in the win, while Avery Sargent (single, 2 RBI) and Kelseigh Sargent (single, double) also played well.

Adult softball

Greenfield Co-Rec

Dan Prasol hit for the cycle on Friday as he finished 4-for-5 with eight RBIs and Smitty’s Pub clobbered Riff’s Tavern, 25-4, in a Greenfield Co-Rec Adult Softball League game at Greenfield Middle School.

Mitch Mailloux went 4-for-6, falling a double shy of hitting for the cycle, and Amanda Haney finished 2-for-3.

Matt Orrell went 3-for-4 in the loss, and Morgan Orrell had a pair of hits.
