Bement School graduate proudly wears crown

DEERFIELD — Wearing a theater crown, Bement School graduate Ashley Lillian Brennan remembered the past and looked to the future as she addressed her classmates, parents and other well wishers inside the First Church of Deerfield at the school’s 2017 Baccalaureate Thursday evening.

“This crown means way more to me than just a prop,” she said, referring to a passion for theater she discovered at the school, “and Bement means way more to me than just a school.”

In total, 23 of the school’s 9th grade students graduated this year. The event featured student speakers and musicians, an invocation by David Belcher, a recitation of the Bement School prayer, special organ music by Thomas Pousont and a benediction by Head of School Christopher H. Wilson.
