The Bernardston Kiwanis Club is seeking artists, craftspeople and specialty food purveyors for its two-day Scarecrow in the Park event on Oct. 20 and 21.

The booth fee for the two-day weekend is $45 per 10-by-10-foot space and $70 for a 10-by-20-foot space. It is expected that artists will commit to the whole weekend, however, a limited number of single-day applications will be accepted at the full weekend price.

The Poetry Chapbook Contest for the Elyse Wolf Prize is accepting submissions. Winner receives publication, $500 and becomes an active member of the press. Deadline June 15. Keene Idol is holding five auditions for adults and youth in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Vermont. The 14th annual event is a regional competition with an adult $5,000 grand prize, while the top three youth contestants ages 7 to 14 will win iPads and trophies.

Audition dates and times are as follows:

April 12, 6:30 to 9 p.m., Taylor’s Tavern, 238 Main St., Greenfield.

April 14, 12:30 to 3 p.m., Revolution Cantina, 38 Opera House Square, Claremont, N.H.

Videotaped auditions begin with registration and check in. Contestants will perform one song of their choice a cappella or with musical accompaniment that they provide.

The Our Lady of Peace women’s group is looking for crafty people who may have excess craft supplies to de-stash. They will be holding the fourth annual Stash Bash at the church on April 14. If you would like to reserve one of the remaining tables, call Chris at 413-367-3052. Tables are $15 to rent, and you keep the proceeds of your sales. Silkworm, the annual review of Florence Poets Society, is now accepting submissions. Poems will be considered for “Silkworm 11–The Eleventh Hour,” to be published in fall 2018.

Submit up to three poems, no longer than 50 lines each, on the theme of “the eleventh hour.” Deadline for submissions is April 15. Please include a 30-word bio with your submission. Only electronic submissions will be accepted as a Word document attached in an email sent to info@florencepoets.com. There is no fee to submit your poems for consideration.

The Valley Photo Center, located at 1500 Main St. in Springfield, is accepting prints for its spring open submission show opening May 6.

Photographers can show their work to the public as well as offer them for sale. The Valley Photo Center asks for 30 percent deductible donations upon sales. There will also be awards for best color and best black and white photo.

To enter, complete and submit an entry form (available at bit.ly/2eGz1HJ) by Friday, April 30. Entrants can submit up to three prints for $25; each additional print is $10. Entry fees also include a one-year membership to the Valley Photo Center.

Elementary, middle, high school and college students may also submit their photos for a separate show. Students may enter framed ready-to-hang prints, unmounted prints for use in loaner frames, or digital files on a disc or thumb drive. Photos will be judged in the following categories: Best in Show, Peoples Choice Award, first place from each school and honorable mention.

To enter, students must also complete and submit an entry form (available at bit.ly/2q1gtXX) by Friday, April 30.

The 42nd Annual Gas Engine Show & Flea Market hosted by the United Church of Bernardston is looking for craftspeople and vendors who are interested in renting a booth for the Memorial Day weekend event. For the first time, this year’s event will be held at Pratt Field at 219 South St, near Kringle Candle, in Bernardston.

Rental fees are $45 if reserved by May 1 and $50 if reserved after. All interested parties should contact Harvey at 413-648-9551.
