Alpine ski: Mohawk Trail continues dominance at PVIAC Meet No. 5

The Mohawk Trail girls alpine ski team continued its dominance this winter on Tuesday evening. The Warriors put the top three individual skiers down the giant slalom course, besting the field at PVIAC Meet No. 5 at Berkshire East in Charlemont.

Addie Loomis won her fifth race in as many tries for Mohawk Trail, crossing the line first overall with a time of 32.77 seconds. Teammates Emmy Sisum (second, 33.98) and Sofiya Slocik-Gritzner (third, 34.13) were close behind to complete the 1-2-3 sweep.

All told, the Warriors put five skiers inside the top 10 on the girls’ side. Lydie Pinkham was sixth overall, posting a time of 34.45 seconds, followed by Mae Hoff in ninth place (35.09).

Brooke Koshinsky was next for Mohawk Trail in 18th place (36.58), with Caroline Makosiej in 20th (36.94) and Naomi Den Ouden in 22nd (37.57).

Mohawk Trail’s Ohia Dellert was 28th (38.53) and Adrian Grant took 42nd (42.76).

On the boys’ side, it was yet another win for Mohawk Trail’s Weston Den Ouden, who took first overall after completing the slalom course in a time of 40.99 seconds. 

Longmeadow’s Mack Frick was the runner up in 42.90 seconds, and Northampton’s Keller Mahoney was third (43.88).

Mohawk Trail’s Gage Patenaude finished fifth in the slalom, crossing the line in 44.96 seconds, just ahead of teammate Phineas Tuttman in sixth place (45.42).

Grayson Bishop (13th, 49.15) and Ben Zarotny (18th, 52.60) made it five Mohawk Trail skiers inside the top 20 overall.

Other Warriors to compete on Tuesday were Zavel Gardner (32nd, 58.34), Oliver Ferris (38th, 1:00.79), Mohamed Abdelgewad (45th, 1:02.20) and Brayden Brisson (59th, 1:05.66).

The seventh race of the season is scheduled for Thursday back at Berkshire East.
