Softball: Franklin Tech's Hannah Gilbert records 100th career hit in win over Pioneer

Hannah Gilbert became the latest Franklin Tech softball player to reach the 100-hit milestone. 

The junior entered Wednesday’s game against Pioneer sitting at 99 career hits and cracked a single and a triple to put her over the 100 hit mark for her career, helping the Eagles walk away with a 16-2 Franklin County League East victory in Northfield. 

Gilbert is the second player on her team this season to hit the mark, joining Lilly Ross.

“It’s a great accomplishment for Hannah,” Franklin Tech coach Joe Gamache said. “She’s put in the work through the years. She’s a great player, a great hitter and a great leader. It was nice to see her get this milestone.” 

Kait Trudeau singled, tripled and drove in two runs, Kylee Gamache tallied a hit and three RBIs while Ross hit safely in the win. 

Layla Goulston recorded two hits, Abbie Ray tallied a hit and an RBI while Kelly Baird and Maggie Tsipenyuk hit safely for Pioneer. 

Northampton 16, Mahar 7 — MacKenzie Matthews, Dakota Cleveland, Avery Savage all had two hits for the Senators in a Franklin County League East loss on Wednesday in Northampton.

Mahar scored two in the first and three in the second but couldn’t continue that output the rest of the way.
