BUCKLAND — It’s always a big track meet when Frontier and Mohawk Trail face off.

The two squads met on Monday, and the Redhawks stayed unbeaten on both the boys and girls side as the Frontier boys picked up a 94-48 victory while the Redhawk girls walked away with a 96-49 triumph.

“We’re undefeated so far and we’d like to keep that going today,” Frontier senior Nicole Plasse said. “Mohawk is always tough. It’s certainly a driving factor for me going against them. I always look at their girls’ times and try to get to where they are, plus more. They’re really good to challenge myself off of. I love running against them every time."

It was a busy day for Plasse, who competed in the long jump, 100 meters, 800 and 4x400 relay. She came away with victories in the long jump (15 feet, 0.5 inches) and the 800 (2 minutes, 34.1 seconds) while helping the Redhawks take first in the 4x400 (4:33.7).

“I have a good mix,” Plasse said. “I have enough rest time. Long jump is my only field event, the 100 meter dash is my warm up for the 800. The 800 is challenging but I like it and the 4x400 is my favorite. It’s exhilarating. I like to branch out. It’s more fun that way.”

Other Frontier winners on the girls side were Hannah Davis in the triple jump (31-2.25) and 100 hurdles (17.6), Elsa Brown in the pole vault (7-0), Lilly Novak in the shot put (26-6.5), Julia Walkowicz in the 100 (13.2) and 200 (28.3), Josie Fosnot in the 400 (64.5) and Madelyn Antes in the 400 hurdles (74.2). The Redhawks also won the 4x100 relay (54.3).

For Mohawk Trail, freshman Morgan Raffa won the discus (92-10) and javelin (91-8).

“It went really well today,” Raffa said. “Javelin started out kinda wonky but discus made my heart really happy. When I let go of it, it was soaring through the air and I knew it was a good one. It’s Frontier. It’s more fun to actually try to compete against them.”

Natalie Lanoue took the high jump (4-8) while Virginia Krezmien won the mile (5:42) and 2 mile (12:39) for the Warriors.

“We’ve been doing really well,” Raffa said. “We have a lot more girls this year. We only had 20 last season but now we have 30. It’s a lot more fun having more girls. Seeing everyone having a good time has been really nice. I’m just hoping we can keep our strength up. We’ve done so well lately.”

In the boys meet, Frontier’s Adrien Pazmandy won the pole vault (10-6) and the 400 hurdles (68.0) while Ben Cachiguango took the 110 hurdles (16.8). For Cachiguango, it was a great display in an event he doesn’t have much experience in.

“It was only my second time doing hurdles,” Cachiguango said. “It was good. I liked it. Coach told me I was going to jump so I tried it again here. I’m doing the decathlon so I’ll have to get used to it.”

Rounding out the Redhawk winners were Julian Adams in the discus (109-4), Luke Howard in the mile (4:46.8) and 800 (2:12.7), Gus Radner in the 400 (57.2) and Evan Hedlund in the 2 mile (10:40.5). Frontier won the 4x100 (49.9) and 4x400 (3:58) relays, as the Redhawks moved to an unbeaten 4-0 on the season.

“It’s been going pretty well so far this season,” Cachiguango said. “We’ve won all our meets so far and we placed pretty high at [Steele Relays] over the weekend. Hopefully we can keep it going.”
