Bob Bourke: Mike Smith for Heath Select Board

Friday, May 10 is election day in Heath. I urge town voters to choose Mike Smith for Selectboard. He offers many qualities that no other candidate can match.

Born and raised in Heath, his family lineage goes back scores of generations. His father Peter, along with Mike and his son Eli, all have their names on the Heath Veterans Memorial, having all served in the military. Besides his service to our country, he also has served the town as a Heath police officer, and a Heath firefighter who worked his his way up to chief.

He also served for many years as the head of the Highway Department, once again working his way to the top position. He knows the physical aspects of the town better than anyone, how to plan a budget, and positively engage with multiple town boards and committees.

I cannot think of a more honest, thoughtful, and dedicated public servant. His proven lifelong commitment to our town will serve the Heath community well as our new Selectboard member.
